Sprung

When I stepped out of my apartment this morning, I was overwhelmed with how green the grass is getting. Spring snuck up on me this year. There is a fresh, light feeling in the air that immediately calls to mind a stanza I love from Longfellow’s The Song of Hiawatha:

Came the Spring with all its splendor,
All its birds and all its blossoms,
All its flowers, and leaves, and grasses.

Simple and lovely!

I took yesterday off to work on some projects and hang with Pappy, since he’s leaving on Monday. I will be SO SAD to see him go – we’ve had a wonderful visit. It’s been cathartic and fun and beneficial for us both I think. He’s helped me get the ball rolling in several areas of my life where I needed some help. Aside from that, we’ve just laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. I’d forgotten how hysterical my Dad is. I really can’t describe how grateful I am for the time we’ve had together.

So for the rest of the weekend, we’ll be doing all sorts of work around my apartment and also having a little fun too. We rented Babel, which I cannot wait to see. My Dad is also curious about how to chat online. When he arrived, he had no clue how to use his laptop and now he’s an e-mail CHAMP! He’s definitely got the basics down so it’s time to branch out to instant messaging and porn downloading. Ooo and my Dad loves to play Scrabble (as do I, even though I suck) so we’re going to try and play the Yahoo! Games version of Scrabble (Literati) online occasionally. Modern!
